Today I talk about how you can write a press release and get press for your business.
Getting press and media attention is still a very valid way of marketing, but don’t think that you need to hire PR agencies to write press releases and distribute them for you.
You can do this on your own for free.
The first step is to write your press release, which is basically a pitch you’ll send to journalists. Make it short and to the point, and customize it. It’s best to put the journalist’s name in it, and maybe even write a sentence about an article of theirs that you liked.
Then write what your business is about in three sentences and ask if they would be willing to write about it. Writing a press release doesn’t have to be hard. It’s actually quite simple. Most people give up after emailing a few journalists, but just know that you have to send a LOT of emails until you start receiving responses to your press release.
Once you get press, your business should get some exposure, and you can use that article to get more contacts and even more press.
